Vintage-Style Poster Prints

The African Journey Collection is a series of vintage-style poster prints that celebrate the continent’s most iconic destinations.  High-quality poster art has become a global decor trend, but there are very few African themed reproductions available. Now, however, Africa’s magnificent wild places and favoured travel destinations are celebrated as never before in formats ideal for homes, offices and public spaces.

Illustrated and designed by Duncan Butchart, the series creates awareness and pride in Africa’s protected areas – vital reservoirs of biodiversity and focal points for tourism that bring economic benefits to local communities.

In the style of Herge’s ‘Adventures of Tintin’, the initial range of 18 destination designs features Serengeti, Kruger, Okavango, Etosha, Maasai Mara, Mana Pools, South Luangwa, Samburu, Volcanoes, Ngorongoro, Kalahari, Karoo and Sossusvlei, as well as Cape Town, Victoria Falls, Hermanus, Giza and Zanzibar.  Further designs will be added over time.

The African Journey Collection poster prints are signed by the artist and available in A1, A2 and A3 formats.

Limited Edition Art Prints

A selection of Duncan Butchart’s fresh, woodcut-style renditions of birds and other subjects as limited edition giclee prints. His minimalist ligné-claire style is an evolution from more detailed gouache and traditional watercolour artworks, but still based on his field observations and sketches of living subjects.

The first choice for fine art reproductions, giclee (pronounced zhee-clay) is an individually produced, high-resolution, fine art digital print made on a specialized inkjet printer at Orms Printing in Cape Town.  Archival ink and paper ensures longevity of up to 100 years.

The Limited Edition Art Prints are available for purchase online.  A selection of the prints is available for viewing at Walker Bay Modern Art Gallery in Hermanus.
